About

Leaning into moments of simmering calm only to boil over into a scorching release, Jessie Berg volleys between extremes as bold as her bright crimson locks. The Los Angeles-born singer and songwriter reflects a myriad of feelings through her vocals. After racking up over 2 million cumulative streams and views independently and receiving acclaim from Hollywood Life, The Hype Magazine, and more, she sharpens her signature sound on a series of 2021 singles and more to come.

“I try to convey emotion through my voice,” she exclaims. “There are moments where I’m calm and chill, but I’m also hyperactive. There’s no in-between. I’m drastically different—either super relaxed or very energetic. Depending on the day, I’m everything.”

Growing up in the San Fernando Valley, Jessie gravitated towards music at a young age. Among her first memories, she caught her grandma’s attention by singing in the car. That trend continued as she took advantage of any and all opportunities to sing, studying voice, participating in choir, and performing in musicals. At the same time, she obsessed over favorite artists such as Amy Winehouse, Madonna, and more. Upon graduating high school, she immersed herself in the entertainment industry. She worked in her cousin’s recording studio and devoted spare time to writing and recording music of her own. Simultaneously, she interned for FLAUNT Magazine.

During 2019, Jessie introduced herself with the single “Monster.” It generated hundreds of thousands of streams as The Hype Magazine raved, “Jessie Berg is a true model for women to feel empowered to talk about the real issues, feelings, and ideas with confidence.” On its heels, she dropped “Faithful To Toxic” in 2021, racking up 224K Spotify streams and 500K YouTube views.

Working with producers Jordan Omley and Mike Summers, she carefully refined her vision.

“We didn’t think twice about anything,” she says. “The songs just came out immediately. We were all on the same page in terms of the writing and the production.”

Now, she shines on a 2021 three-pack of singles. “Safe Space” tempers a nervous beat with confessional lyrics as she makes confessions such as, “There’s a reason why I’m day drinking, and I swear it’s barely 10am,” before an intensely infectious hook unfurls.

“The song is about anxiety and the place I was in,” she admits. “I was writing about myself in the past and how I used to experience crippling anxiety. When you’re that anxious, you can’t breathe. I would hold myself back. So, I kept myself in this safe space where I was in my own head and I didn’t open up to people. I stayed in my bubble, because I was comfortable.”

Then, there’s “Pray” where her voice echoes with a self-aware warning. She goes on, “I’m basically saying, ‘Be careful what you wish for’. Everything may look nice and pretty on the outside, but be careful if you get close to me.”

“Stages” highlights her diary-style lyrics as she once again examines a propensity to retreat inward, “I say goodbye just to play it safe.”

“I put myself in these situations with guys that I know aren’t good, but I can’t help it,” she admits. “It’s a cycle. If the energy changes or something is off, I’ll leave. I’m just being honest.”

In the end, Jessie immediately distinguishes herself in every way.

“When you hear my music, I want you to be like, ‘That was definitely Jessie’,” she leaves off. “It’s important for me to create a sound and vibe for myself. At the same time, I want to be a voice to make you feel better if you’re alone. I hope my music can be like therapy for you.”
